Fans have seen quite a few names part ways with WWE in 2021 due to not just releases, but expired contracts as well. Former NXT Champion Johnny Gargano’s contract with WWE recently expired, and it looks like he could be AEW bound.
Dave Meltzer noted on Wrestling Observer Radio that Johnny Gargano is said to be “heavily considering” joining All Elite Wrestling. It was also noted that there are things Gargano has said both publicly and privately that indicate he could be joining the company.
It’s not clear at this point in time if Gargano will indeed end up signing with AEW, but he did recently discuss the idea of a dream match with Kenny Omega on his Twitch channel.
“I think Kenny is one of, if not the, best wrestler in the world currently. So, I know that’s a dream match for a lot of people, me and Kenny, and it’s a dream match for me, too. So, who knows what can happen one day.”
Kyle O’Reilly’s contract with WWE also expired recently and he made his debut with AEW on Dynamite this week when he interfered in Adam Cole’s match with Orange Cassidy. Only time will tell if Gargano makes the jump as well. Stay tuned for more updates as they become available.
