WWE is a company that is constantly recruiting talent, and back in 2021 the promotion signed Gable Steveson to a Next In Line deal. There was a lot of hype regarding the Olympic gold medalist’s potential to become a star in WWE, but ultimately things didn’t work out.

Ultimately Gable Steveson only made a few appearances on WWE programming and he ended up competing in 17 matches for the company before he was released in 2024.

During a recent appearance on the Joe Rogan Experience, Gable Steveson talked about his WWE release and he admitted that he wasn’t giving 100% to the professional wrestling business.

“I had a great experience. I have nothing wrong with anybody there. TKO was great, ‘Triple H’ Paul Levesque was great, Stephanie, Vince… everybody was great. I just had a competitive drive that I needed to get out. When you have that gap is there, you can’t do both. I was trying to bridge both, and I wasn’t giving my 100% to the business. If I’m not going to give 100% to the business, then you might as well X me out because it’s already over with. That’s practically how it happened.”

One way or another it seems that the door is not completely closed on a WWE return as Gable Steveson also noted that he would love to return to the company some day and there’s no hard feelings on his end.
