Over the years many stars have come and gone from WWE and in 2004 Joy Giovanni competed in the Diva Search competition. Giovanni didn’t win the competition, but she did get signed to a WWE contract, and she worked with the company through July of 2005 when she was released.
During a recent appearance on The A2theK Wrestling Show, Giovanni reflected on her WWE release, and she opened up about how she took the news when she got the phone call.
“I was pretty devastated when I found out I was released. From what I understand, I was kind of the last of that bunch of 50 of us that were all released. I think I might’ve been the very last phone call. In fact, my bags were packed by my door to go to the airport in the morning. I was supposed to go out for TV the next day, and the thing that most people don’t know is that I had just agreed to fully commit to them and go on the road full-time, which was not part of my initial deal.”
Since her WWE release Joy Giovanni has mostly stayed away from the world of professional wrestling, but she did appear at WrestleMania 25 when she competed in the 25 Diva Battle Royal.
