When The Shield first debuted on the WWE main roster they were a force to be reckoned with, and they immediately made an impact.
The three members of The Shield all went on to find major success on their own, but there have been rumors over the years that the line up could have been different.
CM Punk has said in the past that he pitched for Chris Hero to be a part of the trio, and during an interview with Inside The Ropes Chris Hero set the record straight about his possible involvement with the group.
“A little thing that annoys me about this is that people heard the podcast with [CM] Punk, and then they put that information out there, and it just kind of took a life of its own. When Punk pitched the trio of myself, [Dean] Ambrose and [Seth] Rollins, there was no ‘Shield’ concept. It was just, ‘Hey, let’s pair these three guys with me.’ Right? So, technically, I was never supposed to be a member of The Shield because The Shield didn’t exist when this was pitched.”
