You never know where the road will take you when it involves the pro wrestling business. A star can get a ton of notoriety in one promotion and then soon find himself under another company’s banner.
The Cruiserweight Championship has been through a few hands since coming back to WWE and Rich Swann was one of the most charismatic men to hold the belt during its second life. But it didn’t last long and even though he was set for a major comeback in WWE, reality seemed to get in the way.
It’s been a rather interesting time for Rich Swann recently. He was released from WWE after being indefinitely suspended following a domestic abuse and kidnapping of an adult case against his wife fellow indie wrestler Su Yung. Those charges were dropped and Swann’s name was cleared, but the former WWE Cruiserweight Champion just couldn’t seem to get things together in a manner of speaking.
He experienced some trouble when he went out to the indie wrestling scene because some bookers were leery of booking him due to the terrible stigma associated with his alleged offenses. Even though his name was totally cleared of any wrongdoing, the allegations were enough to apparently keep Rich Swann from getting booked.
This led Swann to retire from pro wrestling for a very short time. He canceled all of his indie bookings and thanked anyone who took a chance on him. Then suddenly, he re-emerged at a CZW event and his reception was a great welcome home.
Now it looks like Rich Swann has inked a deal with Impact Wrestling and his first appearance is scheduled for June 1st at a house show in Canada. Only time will tell if Rich Swann will reach the same heights he did in WWE, but with a skillset like his and a great mind for the business, it’s going to be hard to hold a guy like Rich Swann down at this point if they really turn him loose.
