In 2017 you really need to watch what you say. To be honest, it has always been a good idea to watch what you say, because it’s the right thing to do. But in today’s day and age you have to be extra careful. Not only can things get misconstrued, but they can snowball and get out of control before you know what’s happening.
Unfortunately for former WWE diva Cameron, that has happened to her. Cameron recently spoke to TMZ Sports about The Rock running for President of the United States. One thing is for sure, it got a little out of hand.
She said she’s all for The Rock running for President. She said The Rock is the bomb and he’s the only person in WWE that’s made a name for himself. If that comment wasn’t controversial enough, she went on.
After that Cameron, real name Ariane Andrew, went on to say that she doesn’t date black guys. She also said, “I just have a thing for white boys — a little vanilla, a little chocolate… they make cute babies.”
Needless to say, there was some backlash concerning her comments. People called Cameron out for being racist and threw all sorts of accusations at her. Race is a very touchy subject to say the least.
Afterward, Cameron commented on her previous statement and tried to explain herself. “I’ve dated black guys in the past. We all have a preference. It’s a preference thing and it was a comment and it wasn’t meant to be derogatory.”
This should be a lesson to everyone that you need to watch what you say. Even if it’s something you don’t mean in a negative way. It’s always a good idea to consider how it could be interpreted when heard from a different viewpoint. Let’s hope she’s learned her lesson.
