If there’s one thing that fans have learned this year it’s that you never know when you could see a big return. The WWE roster is loaded with talent at the moment, but some of the biggest names are still sitting on the sidelines.

PWInsider is now reporting that Rey Mysterio is getting closer to a return. He has not yet been cleared for in-ring action, but Mysterio is expected to be at the WWE Performance Center next week as part of the process to officially return.

Rey Mysterio has been out of action since April as it was revealed during WrestleMania 41 weekend that he had suffered a torn groin. Originally Rey Mysterio was set to face off against El Grande Americano at the Show of Shows, but he was replaced by Rey Fenix due to the injury.

The former WWE Champion last stepped into the ring when he teamed with Dragon Lee and Rey Fenix to defeat The Creed Brothers and Chad Gable on the 4/18 episode of Friday Night SmackDown, which was the go-home show for WrestleMania 41.

WWE has not confirmed that Rey Mysterio will be appearing at the event, but it’s worth noting that Rey Mysterio is featured on the poster for the WWE x AAA Worlds Collide show in Las Vegas on Friday, September 12th.

Stay tuned for updates.
