Former WWE Champion Responds To Claims That Brock Lesnar Didn’t Want To Work With Him

Throughout the course of his career Brock Lesnar has faced off against a number of opponents and he clashed with AJ Styles in a Champion vs. Champion match at Survivor Series in 2017. Originally Lesnar was set to face Jinder Mahal at Survivor Series, but he ended up dropping the WWE Championship to AJ Styles a few weeks before the premium live event.

While talked to Inside The Ropes about how things played out on the road to Survivor Series, Jinder Mahal noted that he never heard anything that indicated Brock refused to work with him.

“If you go back and look when I dropped that title, there was no mention [that] Brock refused to work with Jinder. It came out years later. I think it was Dave Meltzer who said it. Brock refused to work with Jinder. So man, a thing with a lot of dirt sheets is it’s that writer’s opinion on things, but they don’t say ‘in my opinion’. They just state it like it’s a fact, and people run with it as a fact. At that time, I swear on anything, nobody told me Brock doesn’t want to work with you, etc. In fact, Brock shows me nothing but respect. Even to the very end of the time that I was in WWE, if Brock sees me in the locker room, he shows me the utmost respect. Always handshake, hug. I don’t see him that way with everybody. Me and Brock have a certain respect for each other.”

While talking about what he believes really happened Jinder Mahal said, “What I think happened and I agree with it… It wasn’t like a refusal to work. It was like, ‘Hey this will be a better match. Me and AJ. I’m a heel. He’s a babyface.’ … But somehow it got spun into ‘Brock refused to work with Jinder,’ which, in my opinion, is not the case.”
