There are quite a few free agents on the market right now, but it looks like there’s one Superstar that WWE wanted to make sure they locked down before their deal expired.
Last month Dave Meltzer noted on Wrestling Observer Radio that he heard AJ Styles had signed a new deal with WWE, and now Fightful Select is reporting that they’ve confirmed with numerous sources that the deal is done.
The exact length of the contract is unknown, but it’s being reported that The Phenomenal One signed a multi-year deal, and his original contract with WWE was set to expire in the spring/summer. WWE expected that there would have been a lot of interest in Styles if his deal were to expire, so the company wanted to extend his deal before he became a free agent. It’s being said that AJ Styles is very happy with WWE.
It’s also being said that the deal was a big one that will see AJ Styles make over $3 million per year. Those that confirmed the deal reportedly noted that Styles, “deserved every penny,” and “would easily make that back for the company.” WWE is also paying additional bus travel accommodations for AJ Styles as part of the new deal.
Stay tuned for more updates as they become available.
