Former WWE Champion Reportedly Returning On SmackDown This Week

This week’s episode of WWE Friday Night SmackDown is set to take place from Tulsa, OK and it’s shaping up to be a big show. Following his return at WWE SummerSlam it’s been confirmed that Roman Reigns will be appearing on SmackDown this week, and it looks like another former WWE Champion will be returning to the blue brand as well.

PWInsider is reporting that AJ Styles is currently scheduled for the Friday Night SmackDown TV tapings this week. There’s currently no word on what WWE has planned for The Phenomenal One when he returns.

AJ Styles last appeared on WWE programming when he challenged Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Championship in an I Quit match at Clash at the Castle in June. Unfortunately for Styles it was Cody who walked out with the gold.

Last month AJ Styles traveled to Japan to compete at the NOAH Destination pay-per-view, and he also wrestled at WWE live events in Japan recently. Stay tuned for updates on AJ’s return.
