It’s always unfortunate when a WWE Superstar gets sidelined due to injury on the road to WrestleMania, but that’s exactly what happened to Kofi Kingston during the March 3 episode of Friday Night SmackDown.

Kofi Kingston was involved in a brawl with Sheamus, Karrion Kross, Drew McIntyre and LA Knight, and he explained during an appearance on the Battleground podcast that his ankle was injured when Drew McIntyre landed on him. The former WWE Champion noted that he had to have surgery to remove a bone chip and fix a ligament, but he’s currently on the mend.

“It will be 12 weeks on Friday, 12 weeks post-op. I’m doing really well,” Kofi added. “I actually had the same surgery on the same ankle about six years ago to have some bone chips removed. I feel like this time around, I know what to expect, and I’ve been ahead of schedule for the most part. I’m really able to do a lot of normal people things and live a normal life. So now it’s just a matter of trying to go to the next level and do WWE Superstar things. You know what I mean, in-ring things like that. So I’ve been in Orlando for the past week, just kind of seeing where I’m at, and things are looking pretty good. So hopefully, sooner than later, you’ll see me in the ring.”

There’s currently no word on what WWE could have planned for Kofi Kingston when he returns, but he and Xavier Woods were selected for Raw during the most recent draft. Who do you want to see Kofi Kingston feud with when he returns? Sound off in the comments below.
