The 2023 WWE Draft has put new rosters in place for Raw and SmackDown and Triple H also introduced a new WWE World Heavyweight Championship belt that will be exclusive to the red brand.
Recently everyone’s been talking about who the new WWE World Heavyweight Champion will be with some fans saying that Drew McIntyre deserves another title run as both of his WWE Championship reigns took place during the pandemic. However, Drew’s status with WWE seems to be in question right now as it’s been reported that his deal expires at the end of the year and the two sides are far apart on money.
Dave Meltzer recently talked about Drew McIntyre’s status on Wrestling Observer Radio and speculated that WWE could turn Drew heel if the two sides can’t come to terms on a new deal.
”They could turn Drew McIntyre heel and you know, especially with him possibly leaving, that’s probably the best move and then have him in a program with whichever of the two Cody or Seth Rollins they want to be as the number one guy in the brand for a while.”
Drew McIntyre hasn’t appeared on WWE programming since WrestleMania 39, but he was drafted to Raw recently, so it will be interesting to see if he does get involved in the WWE World Heavyweight Championship picture when he returns to TV.
Stay tuned for updates.
