In 2019 All Elite Wrestling was officially announced and one of the first big names confirmed for the roster was former WWE Undisputed Champion Chris Jericho. In the months that followed Chris Jericho went on to become the first ever AEW World Champion and he’s been one of the top stars in the company ever since.

Recently Jericho spoke to ET Canada about AEW’s big debut in Winnipeg this week and he also reflected on his mindset near the end of his WWE run. Chris Jericho noted that if not for AEW he’s not sure if he would still be wrestling today.

“It was a little bit of a risk to come here. I could have stayed in WWE and been comfortable for the rest of my career. And if I had done that, I don’t know if I’d still be wrestling today because I was very just mentally like, ‘Eh, whatever.’

“AEW kind of reignited my passion and reignited my creativity. It took things to the next level all across the board. I think 2022 was a career year for me as a result.”

Chris Jericho will have his chance at championship gold this week on Dynamite when House of Black defends the AEW World Trios Titles against Jericho Appreciation Society and The Elite. Stay tuned for updates.
