Retirement has been a very hot topic in the wrestling world over the last few months as John Cena retired in December, and AJ Styles retired at the Royal Rumble last week.

Big E was recently asked about his status while speaking with Compas on the Beat at Super Bowl Radio Row, and he confirmed that he considers himself to be retired from in-ring competition.

“I’m content. You know, in wrestling they always say ‘never say never.’ But right now I’m retired, and that for me is it. So I’m focused on other things right now.”

The former WWE Champion also talked about his current role with WWE when he said, “It’s been good. It’s something I really enjoy, something I didn’t think I necessarily was going to do when my career was over. But it’s been a blast, man. I get to be a part of what we’re doing in WWE and do it in a different way. I’ve really enjoyed being a part of helping people be more informed about what they’re about to see or what they just saw. And it’s helped prepare me for other roles in broadcasting as well. So not something I had on my radar when my career was wrapping up, but I’m really enjoying it.”

Big E last stepped into the ring on the March 11, 2022 episode of Friday Night SmackDown when he faced off against Ridge Holland in a singles match. Unfortunately Big E was hit with an overhead belly to belly suplex outside the ring which resulted in him suffering a broken neck. Big E first signed with WWE in 2009 and throughout his run with the company he managed to become a one time WWE Champion, one time NXT Champion, two time Intercontinental Champion, and an eight time WWE Tag Team Champion.
