The life of a wrestler can be filled with highs and lows, and for many there’s no bigger accomplishment than winning the WWE Championship. Sheamus has been with since he signed in 2007, and since then he’s managed to become a four time WWE World Champion.
The Celtic Warrior last won the WWE Championship in 2015 when he cashed in Money in the Bank on Roman Reigns at Survivor Series, but his reign was short lived as he ended up dropping the belt back to Reigns after 22 days.
During a WWE 24 documentary focused on WrestleMania 37, Sheamus reflected on that period of his career and he revealed that he actually considered walking out after going from WWE Champion to last televised pick in the draft.
“The draft came and I had just been WWE Champion up until the end of December [2015]. And I was the last pick on the [televised] draft.”
“I’m thinking to myself like, ‘How have I gone from ‘The Guy’ to the last pick of the draft?’ I was like, ‘This is a serious fall from grace.’ I was so angry, man, I was ready… I kind of felt like ready to walk [out]. I really did. I felt like, ‘What am I doing? I’m not enjoying this anymore.’”
Ultimately Sheamus stayed with the company and he is still featured consistently on WWE programming. He has been on a quest in recent years to finally add the Intercontinental Championship to his resume, but so far the title has eluded him.
