There are many wrestlers who have tried to climb to the top of the ladder in WWE, and it seems that Dolph Ziggler has spent his whole career making sure he’s ready for opportunities when they present themselves. Ziggler is a two time WWE World Heavyweight Champion, but the general consensus seems to be that WWE never had much interest in pushing him as a top star.
During a recent appearance on Insight with Chris Van Vliet, Dolph Ziggler acknowledged that WWE never viewed him as a top guy while explaining why he still shows up ready for anything.
“I feel I was never in their conversation to be their guy. I understand that. But I go every day I can try and whittle them down, and maybe in five years, they’ll go, ‘Hey, we got to let this guy go over.’ Or, ‘Hey, in five years, this guy is ready. I know he’s not our top guy. But when this guy has knee surgery, he can slide right in there,’ and I go, ‘That’ll be my chance,’ so just always be ready for that.”
Despite being a veteran of the WWE roster Dolph Ziggler did not compete at WrestleMania 39 over the weekend, and there’s no word on what WWE does, or doesn’t have planned for him moving forward.
