When WWF creative was sitting around discussing plans for WrestleMania 6 they needed a pink Cadillac for the Rhythm and Blues entrance during the show. Dusty Rhodes spoke up and said that Diamond Dallas Page had a pink Caddy so they gave him a call. DDP drove that pink Cadillac from Florida all the way up to Toronto’s SkyDome for the show. Little did he know that 12 years later he would be appearing at his second WrestleMania in the same building, only that time it would be as a wrestler.
The WWE just announced that DDP will be inducted into the 2017 Hall of Fame class. He will join Kurt Angle, The Rock ‘n’ Roll Express, and Teddy Long for the March 31st ceremony in Orlando and he totally deserves it.
When DDP stepped out of the ring, the three-time WCW World Champion self high-fived his way into the yoga world and revolutionized the concept in many ways. He was instrumental in pulling other top names like Scott Hall and Jake Roberts from the brink, and Vader recently said that he’s even getting some lessons himself.
We here at Still Real To Us are thrilled to congratulate Diamond Dallas Page for receiving this esteemed honor and can’t wait for the emotional feels and motivational speech that awaits us at the 2017 WWE Hall of Fame ceremony.
Randy Orton would not be who he is without DDP perfecting the Diamond Cutter from all sorts of positions and telling Randy to take it, because he himself was ‘out’.
Randy is one of the best ‘passing of the torch’s ever. I’d rather Randy induct DDP.
