Former WCW Star Offered To Wrestle In WWE For Free

In 2001 Vince McMahon bought his competition and before fans knew it they were watching an invasion angle play out before their very eyes. Stars from WCW started appearing on WWE programming, but unfortunately for Buff Bagwell his run with the company didn’t last very long.

Bagwell only wrestled one match for WWE when he lost to Booker T in the main event of Raw on July 2, 2001 and he was then released from the company shortly after.

Recently Buff Bagwell discussed his release on the Cheap Heat Productions Podcast, and he noted that at one point he reached out to WWE Head of Talent Relations John Laurinaitis and offered to wrestle for free.

“I even offered Laurinaitis, when he was running things, I offered him, I said, ‘Look, bring me in for a month, bring me in for two weeks, bring me in for a week. Whatever you wanna decide to bring me in for, bring me in for.’ I said, ‘I’ll wrestle it for free.’ I said, ‘Pay for my trans[port], but I’ll wrestle it for free.'”

The former WCW Tag Team Champion also noted that he’s currently set for an upcoming interview with Conrad Thompson where he will be going into more detail regarding his WWE release.

“I wanna tell the whole story too again and get it straight because it’s never been really straightened out on what Jim Ross said, how he said it, why he said it. t’s still wide open on really not clearing it up, and he [Conrad Thompson] is really blown away on why did I not get a second chance.”

Do you think WWE should have given Buff Bagwell another chance? Sound off in the comments below.
