Over the last few years WWE has released some surprising names, and fans were shocked last summer when the company announced that former Universal Champion Braun Strowman had been let go.
Fightful Select is now reporting that Braun Strowman is one of the names being discussed for a possible WWE return. It was noted that Strowman signed a new deal with WWE in 2019 that was believed to be a major seven figure, multi-year contract. Strowman reportedly got down to the last few months of his deal and played hardball during negotiations.
Since parting ways with WWE numerous talent noted that Strowman’s comments about independent wrestlers rubbed them the wrong way, but they weren’t sure if his comments were genuine, or if it was just something he was doing to get heat. Other sources in WWE have praised Strowman for being “ring ready” and noted that he looks better now than when he was in WWE.
There’s no word on how far negotiations have gotten, or any specific pitches regarding Strowman. People of influence in WWE did not confirm or deny that there’s interest in bringing Strowman back. It has not been confirmed that he’ll be returning, but the idea has been discussed internally.
