The wrestling world has unfortunately lost another notable figure as PWInsider is reporting that Kerwin Silfies, who had been the director for the vast majority of WWE’s programs and specials for many years, has passed away. Silfies passed away at the age of 75 years old on Tuesday night and he had been dealing privately with health issues according to the report.
Kerwin Silfies originally started with WWE and worked for the company through the 2020s until he was furloughed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Silfies never returned to the company and was replaced by Marty Miller, who now directs Monday Night Raw.
Silfies is credited for being a huge part of WWE’s success as the company grew both nationally and globally. He was at the helm directing shows such as Saturday Night’s Main Events in the 80s, WrestleMania and WWE’s first shows in Saudi Arabia.
Beyond his work with WWE, Kerwin Silfies is credited with directing The Last Full Measure, a documentary on The Battle of Gettysburg that was released back in 2007. His last name was also said to have been the inspiration for the Kerwin White character which was portrayed by Chavo Guerrero.
Our condolences go out to Kerwin Silfies family, friends and fans.
