This week’s episode of Monday Night Raw kicked off with Seth Rollins who made his way down to the ring presumably for his open challenge. Seth was standing in the ring listening to the fans sing his song when Finn Balor attacked him from behind and hit him with the Coup de Grace three times. Balor then attacked Rollins once again backstage.
When the cameras cut back to the ring The Miz was cutting a promo complaining about how there would be no open challenge tonight. He said he was going to answer Seth’s challenge and become the new WWE World Heavyweight Champion.
The Miz then declared that he was issuing an open challenge of his own to anyone in Cleveland. That’s when Tommaso Ciampa’s music hit then the former NXT Champion made his way down to the ring and returned after nine months away from WWE.
Tommaso Ciampa attacked The Miz as soon as he got in the ring before the match even started. He told the referee to ring the bell then he brawled with Miz at ringside. Ciampa ended up getting the win over The Miz when he put him away with the Fairytale Ending.
