For weeks now WWE has been airing vignettes teasing the arrival of a mysterious wrestler, and last week the vignettes officially confirmed that Penta has joined the roster. During the same show it was also announced that Chad Gable would be facing a mystery competitor on this week’s episode of Raw.
Earlier in the day WWE officially listed several new items for Penta on WWE Shop, so naturally fans assumed that he would be making his debut sooner than later.
Penta was indeed revealed as Chad Gable’s mystery opponent during Raw, and the fans in attendance at the SAP Center gave the former AEW World Tag Team Champion a warm welcome. When Penta arrived Michael Cole called Penta’s debut “the worst kept secret in the business.”
Gable and Penta were evenly matched early on, but Penta ended up gaining the upper hand as the match went on. Chad Gable tried to neutralize his opponent and keep him grounded by continuously attacking Penta’s knee.
Penta made a comeback when he threw Gable to the outside the dove over the top rope to take him out. Back in the ring Penta hit Gable with a Backstabber for a two count. Penta charged at Gable and connected with a Mexican Destroyer. Gable kicked out at two as the fans chanted “this is awesome!”
Chad Gable continued to focus on Penta’s leg then applied the ankle lock. Penta got out then countered with The Sacrifice. As Gable was writing in pain Penta hit the Penta Driver to pick up the win.
After the match the fans cheered as Penta celebrated then Jackie Redmond welcomed him to Monday Night Raw. She asked him what the moment means to him. Penta thanked San Jose and called WWE his new home. He told the fans that he knows they waited for this moment then said the real truth is he’s been waiting for this moment. Penta finished up by saying it’s not only the Netflix new era for WWE, it’s also the Penta era.
