The All Elite Wrestling roster is loaded with talent, but it’s been months since fans have seen Saraya. The former AEW Women’s World Champion has been taking time off from the company, and she’s recently been promoting her new book which is set to be released next week.
Saraya recently spoke to Sports Illustrated about her future in the professional wrestling business, and she indicated that the end of her career is coming very soon.
“I’m letting people beat me, left, right and center. I was on a losing streak, but I just wanted people to get their rub. I want to uplift everybody. I’m not gonna be in wrestling forever. I’m coming to the end of it and it’s very soon. And I don’t wanna go out being like, I need to be on top.”
Saraya previously retired from in-ring competition in April of 2018 after suffering a neck injury during a match in December of 2017. She continued to appear on WWE programming as the SmackDown General Manager and later the manager of the Kabuki Warriors.
The former WWE Divas Champion parted ways with WWE in June of 2022 then went on to debut with AEW at Grand Slam in September of 2022, and she returned to the ring that same year when she faced Britt Baker at Full Gear.
In August of 2023, Saraya won the AEW Women’s World Championship at All In, which was her first title win in nearly nine years. Saraya has not appeared on AEW programming since November of 2024, and it’s believed that her contract with the company is set to expire this year.
