We’re only three months into 2026 and it’s been an exciting year so far. A lot has happened in the world of professional wrestling, but it seems that a former AEW Women’s Champion will be sitting on the sidelines for the foreseeable future.
Fightful Select is reporting that they’ve been told AEW is prepared for Toni Storm to not be cleared for the rest of 2026, at a minimum. Toni Storm was originally supposed to face off against Marina Shafir in a no holds barred match, but she was written off TV after she was attacked in the locker room.
The identity of the attacker has not been revealed as of this writing. However, it’s also being reported that there are plans in place for the attacker storyline and a creative direction for it.
Toni Storm has been one of the top stars in the AEW women’s division over the last few years and she is the only woman in the history of the company to win the AEW Women’s Championship four times.
After Storm defeated Marina Shafir at the AEW Revolution pay-per-view on Sunday she was confronted by the one and only Ronda Rousey. You can get more details on why Ronda Rousey showed up at Revolution here.
