Business has certainly picked up on AEW programming in recent weeks as a number of stars have been competing in the first ever AEW Continental Classic. When the tournament was first revealed Tony Khan announced that the winner of the Continental Classic would be the AEW Continental Champion, NJPW Strong Openweight Champion and ROH World Champion.
Several AEW stars put on some impressive performances throughout the Continental Classic, but it was Eddie Kingston and Jon Moxley who advaced to the finals at AEW Worlds End.
Jon Moxley and Eddie Kingston were pretty evenly matched for most of the bout with each competitor getting the upper hand at different points. The crowd seemed to be firmly behind Eddie Kingston.
The end of the match came when Jon Moxley and Eddie Kingston engaged in a slap fight going strike for strike with hits to the face. Eddie Kingston apparently connected in just the right spot with one of his strikes as Mox went down then Eddie pinned him to win the Continental Classic.
After the match the referee presented Eddie Kingston with the ROH World Title belt and NJPW Strong Openweight Title belt. The new AEW Continental Championship was then revealed for the first time and handed to Eddie Kingston as well.
Eddie Kingston celebrated with AEW Continental Championship, ROH World Championship and NJPW Strong Openweight Championship as Mox looked on from inside the ring. Kingston put the belts down as the fans chanted “You deserve it!” Jon Moxley then hugged Eddie to a big pop from the crowd.
