Back in November, Raw General Manager Adam Pearce officially unveiled the WWE Women’s Intercontinental Championship, and a tournament kicked off shortly after. A number of talented competitors entered the tournament, and it came down to Lyra Valkyria and Dakota Kai who faced off in the finals during this week’s episode of Monday Night Raw.
As Alicia Taylor introduced the competitors Adam Pearce stood in the ring and held the WWE Women’s Intercontinental Championship. The action picked up as soon as the bell rang and early on in the match Lyra Valkyria hit Dakota Kai with a suplex off the apron onto the floor.
At one point it looked like Dakota Kai had it won when she connected with the GTK, but Lyra Valkyria rolled out of the ring. Dakota Kai rolled her back into the ring and Lyra Valkyria connected with the Nightwing to win the match.
Adam Pearce put the WWE Women’s Intercontinental Championship belt around Lyra Valkyria’s waist then held her arm up as the inaugural champion celebrated.
Dakota Kai shook Lyra Valkyria’s hand and showed respect to the champion as she hugged her then left the ring. Valkyria followed up by celebrating in the corner as pyro went off.
