Back in September the AEW Women’s Tag Team Championship belts were officially unveiled. A tournament kicked off in October and a number of teams have been eliminated since then.
The finals took place on the special Winter is Coming edition of Dynamite on Wednesday and Toni Storm & Mina Shirakawa faced off against Willow Nightingale & Harley Cameron in the opening match. Ultimately it was Willow Nightingale & Harley Cameron who picked the victory to become the first ever AEW Women’s Tag Team Champions when Willow Nightingale pinned Mina Shirakawa after connecting with a powerbomb.
After the match Renee Paquette interviewed the new champions as the fans chanted “you deserve it!” They celebrated with the belts as pyro went off then Toni Storm & Mina Shirakawa stepped up to them. Things were tense for a second, but Storm & Shirakawa showed respect to the new champions and everyone shook hands before Storm & Shirakawa left the ring.
Stay tuned for more updates on AEW Winter is Coming as they become available.
