WWE has their eyes set on the entire world in regards to being the top wrestling promotion on the planet. After all, there are only so many places a company can take their product and WWE wants to be the top promotion wherever they go.
In the latest issue of The Observer it was noted WWE is making an extra trip to Japan this year in order to give both brands a chance to travel to the Land Of The Rising Sun.
The Raw team is going to invade Sumo Hall on June 30th and July 1st. A couple of months later the SmackDown crew is set to do the same on September 16th.
WWE sent a representative to Japan recently that Japanese fans would be very familiar with. Finn Balor is currently in Japan doing press, but there might be more to the story than just hyping a couple overseas tour dates.
According to WrestlingNewsWorld, Finn Balor was also sent over to Japan in order to talk to some of his old friends in New Japan about coming to WWE. He’s spent some time posting pictures on social media with the likes of current IWGP Heavyweight Champion Kazuchika Okada. If WWE could sway Okada to make a jump to WWE, it would be a huge move for Vince McMahon and company to say the least.
Finn has also been spending some time with his old Bullet Club buddies. But judging from the shirts Tama Tonga and Bad Luck Fale are wearing it certainly looks like they made the jump over to the Balor Club, at least for the night.
If WWE is able to do another recruitment sweep of New Japan like they did when Shinsuke Nakamura, AJ Styles, and The Club made their way over Okada, Fale, and Tonga would certainly be prime targets. Of course Okada is in the middle of a lengthy contract, but WWE can always try to warm him up to the idea.
Sending talent over to Japan to hang out with some of the people WWE wants to sign is a smart move because it wouldn’t necessarily be seen as tampering as long as no official offers are spoken about.
Finn could always just be enjoying some time with old friends, but recent reports say WWE is also looking closely at guys like Kenny Omega, Mary Scurll, Seiya Sanada, and Guerrillas Of Destiny. Only time will tell if WWE is able to pull off another grand recruitment though.
