Finn Balor Responds To Claims That Seth Rollins is ‘Unsafe’

Seth Rollins faced Finn Balor for the Universal Championship at SummerSlam two weeks ago, in a match where the Demon suffered an arm injury that was so serious that it required surgery.

Balor was forced to relinquish the Championship the following night on Raw after it was announced that the surgery would keep him on the sidelines for up to six months. This, in turn, began a wave of internet hate that was aimed towards Seth Rollins after he was labelled a ‘dangerous in-ring worker.’

Balor was the third superstar to be injured in a match with Rollins after John Cena’s nose was broken in a match leading up to their collision for the United States Championship at last year’s SummerSlam event.

This was then followed by his main event match with Sting at Night of Champions where his ‘Buckle Bomb’ move ended the career of the WCW legend. Even though Sting himself claimed that Rollins was not at fault for the injury, many of the WWE Universe speculated that Sting was still under contract with the WWE and could be forced to say what WWE wanted their fans to hear.

The speculation has continued over the past two weeks but finally Finn Balor has spoken out about the injury on the latest edition of The Ross Report and stated that Rollins is not a dangerous worker:

“Well, people are entitled to their opinions, but as far as my opinion goes, I have been hurt a lot of time working, and it’s never been with Seth Rollins. Obviously, if you work a lot, you are going to get hurt. Occasionally, this just happened coincidently, and I just so happened to be working with Seth, so as far as I’m concerned Seth is one of, if not the best performer we have in this business. I feel that all the flack he gets is totally unwarranted. Any kind of slack he gets for being unsafe is really ridiculous.”

The online speculation last week was that Rollins was denied the Universal Championship on Raw because the WWE Universe had decided that he was an unsafe wrestler and was injuring other workers on purpose.

This doesn’t seem to be the case at all, the plan was always to bring Triple H back and have him turn Rollins babyface so that they could build up to a marquee match at WrestleMania. This match had been planned for the past year, but couldn’t go ahead because of Rollins knee injury.

Triple H was brought back to WWE TV much sooner because of Balor’s injury but it seems Rollins isn’t being punished for Balor’s injury because the company doesn’t believe that he was at fault.

The video footage shows that Balor put his arm back and caught all of his weight on his arm rather than his back and that was the reason the injury was so severe. Many fans have stated that the ‘buckle bomb’ move should be banned now that it has injured two superstars, and Rollins hasn’t used it in his one televised match since.

It will be interesting to see if Rollins is allowed to continue using the move, especially since his curb-stomp was banned due to WWE’s ongoing concussion lawsuits, even though there were no injuries recorded as a direct result of the move.

The fact that Finn Balor has stepped forward to defend Rollins despite the fact that he has had to undergo surgery and now faces a tough few months of rehab before he can return to action proves that Rollins should be cleared of ay wrongdoing.

Rollins himself stated in his WWE 24 documentary that he wouldn’t wish the journey back to action after surgery on anyone, it was the most frustrating part of his career, and now Finn has to go through it as well.

Hopefully, these latest comments by the Inaugural Universal Champion will finally put an end to the ongoing reports and speculation by fans about one of WWE’s best promo deliverers and consistent in-ring workers.

Rollins now steps into one of the biggest rivalries of his career, one that will almost certainly become personal and he needs to go into this as a face with the fans backing him against one of the most powerful wrestlers in WWE currently.
