Finn Balor returned to NXT some time ago, and he’s the current NXT Champion. Finn is certainly no stranger to NXT as he’s spent a number of years there, but prior to his main roster call up fans were anxiously waiting to see Balor on Raw or SmackDown.
Balor made a big impact when he was called up in 2016, and he went on to face Seth Rollins in the first ever Universal Championship match at SummerSlam.
It was a big moment for Finn Balor, as he managed to win the title and become the first ever Universal Champion, but he suffered a shoulder injury in the process, and he had to relinquish the belt the next night.
While speaking with Bleacher Report Finn acknowledged that he made it the mountain top, and he’s not resentful at all for the way things turned out.
“It happened, it was part of my story, and it was part of my growth. Going back to checking the boxes, I’m like this 14-year-old kid from Ireland with this dream to be WWE champion and I did it at SummerSlam, and I beat Roman Reigns in my debut on Raw and then Seth Rollins to win the title. Like, where can you go from there? You got to look at the positives and really that was it.
“That was the top of the mountain for me. I got there, it got taken away from me early, whatever, it happened exactly the way it was supposed to happen for me. I learned a lot from it and maybe I would’ve been in a lot worse position now if I had that run people feel I was robbed of. It’s part of my story, it’s made me a stronger person, and I’m not resentful for that at all.”
