Last week’s episode of Friday Night SmackDown featured some action packed matches, but it sounds like the finish for at least one of the matches didn’t play out the way WWE officials had hoped it would.
PWInsider is reporting that the finish for Chelsea Green vs. Zelina Vega did not go as planned. Ultimately the match ended with Chelsea Green getting counted out as she was yelling at the announcers and the audience.
According to the report several sources noted that the belief was Chelsea Green did not hear the referee’s count as the ref was getting to 10, which led to her getting legitimately counted out. It’s being said that there was no choice but to call the finish as a shoot because they couldn’t ignore the 10 count on live television.
One person believe that Chelsea might have thought the referee would start the count over when Zelina Vega was thrown into the ring, so she started playing to the announcers and audience without realizing that the count was still going. The bell then had to be called for when the referee hit 10.
There were no injuries or anything that led to the finish, and the match was originally set to go a few minutes longer. The belief is that the original plan was for Zelina Vega to win, just with a different finish. There was no heat on anyone backstage following the match.
