Female WWE Superstar Announces Retirement

As time goes on fans of professional wrestling will eventually see their favorite superstars call it a day. Whether a departure is filled with controversy like what happened with CM Punk, or shock and sadness like with Edge and Daniel Bryan, every professional wrestling star will someday move on to future endeavors. If you’re a fan of Rosa Mendes, then today is a sad day.

Rosa announced on her Instagram today that she will no longer be including the title of “current WWE superstar” on her resume as she has announced her retirement.

It isn’t all sad news though, as the now former WWE Superstar and cast member of Total Divas announced her retirement on her daughter’s 1-year birthday. She also noted that she plans to branch out with more entrepreneurial ventures and she will remain focused on being a mom.

The 37-year-old rose to WWE fame when she reached the top-8 in the 2006 WWE Divas Search, and she won a dancing portion of the competition in the process. Although she didn’t win the competition, Mendes apparently turned a few heads backstage as she was offered a WWE contract in spite of that fact.

She found herself as Beth Phoenix’s intern as well as managing Primo and Epico before they put on masks and became bull fighters (this writer misses El Torito by the way). She went on to become Fandango’s dance partner for a short time and she got a lot of people talking with her nude antics on Total Divas.

When she discovered she was pregnant with her daughter, Rosa became a correspondent on Smackdown and later took a maternity leave and many fans believed that she would be back. Unfortunately this isn’t the case, and her career with WWE has come to an end.

For those who forgot that she even existed, you might not be alone, but it would also be incredibly difficult to tell a comprehensive story about WWE during her impressive 11 year tenure with the company without mentioning her name.

Best of luck goes out to Rosa Mendes from all of us here at Still Real To Us, we’ll always remember how well you danced.
