Expect A New Elimination Chamber This Sunday

In 2015 WWE had to nix the idea of having an Elimination Chamber match because the logistics of the 10-ton structure couldn’t be managed in certain arenas. However, they were able to turn a Corpus Cristi, Texas house show into a WWE Network special at the last minute and have an Elimination Chamber match at the American Bank Center anyway.

The 2015 event not only gave WWE the opportunity to switch the title from Seth Rollins to Dean Ambrose, but it also provided a platform for Kevin Owens to beat John Cena in his debut main roster match. Speaking of debuts, this event also saw the first tag team Elimination Chamber match where New Day retained their big penny belts.

WWE has thrown in some mentions in the last few weeks that we will see an “all new” Elimination Chamber on Sunday. Brian Alvarez said on the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Live that WWE has indeed made some changes to the chamber. Alvarez said that these changes were slight, but they are changes nonetheless.

One of the issues with the previous chamber was that it couldn’t be housed in numerous locations due to the fact that so many arenas use huge digital scoreboards that hang in the middle of the building.

You can check out the current card for this Sunday’s Elimination Chamber pay-per-view below.
