CM Punk is currently sidelined due to injury, but The Second City Saint made his big return to Monday Night Raw during this week’s episode. Punk appeared in a promo segment where it was determined that he will be doing commentary for the Seth Rollins vs. Drew McIntyre match at WrestleMania 40.
While CM Punk’s segment with Drew McIntyre and Seth Rollins was one of the most talked about segments coming out of Raw on Monday night Punk was not involved in any physicality due to his injury. Eric Bischoff recently discussed the segment on his 83 Weeks podcast and he noted that he felt bad for Punk because his injury has put him in a tough spot.
“Sitting through that, I actually felt bad, I empathized with Punk because he’s not going to be … he can’t wrestle. You can’t really do anything physical in the ring. Obviously, the audience wanted to see him, they wanted him to be a real part of the show, it’s evident, but that’s a tough spot to be in. It’s a tough spot to be in when you can’t do anything and everybody knows you can’t do it.”
Currently there’s no word on when CM Punk could be back in the ring, but it seems inevitable that he will clash with Seth Rollins and Drew McIntyre when he is eventually cleared.
