WWE’s Mixed Match Challenge could have some major ramifications in regards to the greater picture of sports entertainment when looking back in retrospect years from now. After all, this is WWE’s first venture into a new arena of broadcasting.
Other pro wrestling promotions have relied on streaming services to broadcast their shows in the past, but WWE is doing it up big on Facebook Watch with the Mixed Match Challenge.
But unfortunately, one man isn’t going to be a part of this groundbreaking event as Enzo Amore is ill. He couldn’t be let into the building for Raw this week due to his flu bug and it looks like it’s not going away anytime soon.
If this sounds extreme, just consider how WWE recently dodged a huge bullet at TLC when both Bray Wyatt and Roman Reigns went down with a viral infection. Thankfully, WWE had Kurt Angle they could call to let him return and AJ Styles could face Finn Balor to make so many of our dreams come true. But WWE can’t keep pulling rabbits out of their hats due to a chunk of the roster falling ill. There is just too much at stake at this point.
It looks like the flu bug Enzo Amore has must be a pretty strong one because he’s been pulled from the upcoming WWE Mixed Match Challenge series. This is a very interesting decision seeing how the debut episode isn’t set for January 16th. But apparently, he needs more than two weeks to recover.
Let’s hope he’s able to rest up and get back to smack talking very soon as the WWE Cruiserweight Champion. This illness already nixed his match against Cedric Alexander on Raw this week and it really is a shame it’s going on to cost him more career opportunities.
