Edge made his surprise return to the ring at the Royal Rumble in 2020 after he retired in 2011, and since then he’s gone on to work with several WWE stars from the current roster. Even though Edge has been able to add a new chapter to his career he knows that it’s not going to last forever.

While talking about his current run on Sirius XM, The Rated R Superstar noted that there’s only so far he can go, and he doesn’t want to stay beyond his sell by date.

“I don’t want to be the guy who when a young guy like Austin Theory or something looks at the lineup sheet goes ‘I got Edge all right there’s going to be some work.’ I don’t want to get there. I want Austin Theory to look at it and go ‘whoa okay cool I get to work Edge.’ Just like I did when I looked at the sheet and saw I’m working Mr Perfect you know? That’s the feeling I want guys to still have. That’s what I want the audience to have. I don’t want to go past my sell by date and I’m very cognizant and aware that that’s coming. I’m going to be 50 in October. There’s only so far you can go at the level that I want to be able to do it at.”

While talking about his plans for retirement he confirmed that this is his last run. Edge also noted that he would like to retire in Toronto, but he’s not exactly sure when that will be.

“I still want to be able to be involved in a Hell in a Cell at WrestleMania if I’m around with a guy like Finn Balor who’s at the top of his game. I don’t want to stick around until that’s not the case. In a perfect world I’d love to retire in Toronto. Do I know exactly when that is? No I don’t. There are a lot of mitigating factors to that but this is the last run there’s no doubt about that.”
