It’s no big secret that Edge is in the twilight of his career, and ahead of Friday Night SmackDown this week the Rated R Superstar confirmed that there was only one match left on his WWE contract. Edge faced off against Sheamus for the first time ever in Toronto on Friday night, and it was Edge who picked up the victory.
After the show went off the air Edge addressed the Toronto fans and noted that it’s unlikely he’ll be wrestling in Toronto again because he doesn’t believe he can make it through another full run.
“What I can say is that this is my last one in front of y’all. I don’t think I can make it another full run to get here again for a match.”
“I’m just being honest with you, but don’t let that be a downer because, man, what an experience you all gave me. I will never forget it. I will never forget it. When I’m 84 years old, and I don’t remember much, I’m damn sure going to remember this. Thank you.”
It’s unclear at this point in time if Edge will end up signing a new deal with WWE and continue wrestling with the company, or if he could just hang up the boots for good following his match with Sheamus. One way or another it will be interesting to see what the future holds for the Hall of Famer. Stay tuned for updates.
