Edge And Christian Say WWE Rushed Brock Lesnar vs Samoa Joe

Plenty of people are excited about the idea of Brock Lesnar vs Samoa Joe at Great Balls Of Fire. They’re way more excited for the main event than the actual name of the show and that’s hard to top considering all the talk surrounding the newest WWE PPV’s name and logo.

On a recent episode of Pod Of Awesomeness, Edge and Christian discussed the Universal Title match at Great Balls Of Fire and they both agree that while they’re excited like we are to see Samoa Joe vs Brock Lesnar, the match kind of popped up out of nowhere.

“You want my take? Here’s my take,” Edge said. “Ok, I’m assuming that they wanna go Reigns and Brock at WrestleMania — I personally would have gone Brock and Joe at WrestleMania because it’s different. It is fresh, it is believable. You have this 300 pound Samoan you know, beast and then The Beast Incarnate. So I don’t know — I think that to me it would have been a fun match to get at WrestleMania and I think people would have been excited to see that too.”

“But this is what bothers me about it,” the Rated-R Superstar continued. “It just seems like everything is hot-shotted and not thought out far enough. Because if it were and you knew you were gonna go Brock/Joe — you don’t have him lose to Seth Rollins at the pay-per-view the month before. You have him win and just keep winning. Joe keeps barreling through people. And he can cheat, he can use heat, you know there’s nothing wrong with that — but have him keep winning. Have him build to Brock. Now — oh my god — which tells me they didn’t think far enough ahead. I don’t know, I’m just guessing but that’s what it seems like to me.”

“Or you know what happened? You know, [Joe] dropped the match to Seth. It just doesn’t make sense to me. Build him up as a juggernaut to meet this other juggernaut and now [makes sound of a rocket falling] boo-ya, here we go.”

“I agree with you,” Christian replied. “I think that yeah, same thing. [Joe] should be steamrolling everybody if that was the long term goal. If it was something that just kind of — plans changed and maybe they’re hoping the fans have short term memory that Rollins thing didn’t happen.”

“Well I just screwed that up,” Edge replied. “I just reminded everybody, whoops.”

“The thing is you can fix everything, right?” Christian continued, “So [Joe] can just go from here destroying people and all those sorts of things. But yes, in a perfect world he would not have lost at all leading up to the match.”

Of course plans probably did change for WWE. Braun Strowman’s injury was untimely to say the least and most likely caused the shifting in WWE’s creative plans. But whether we like it or not, Samoa Joe vs Brock Lesnar is taking place on a pay-per-view that is essentially a lead-in to Summerslam.

Brock vs Joe is also only expected to be a one-time deal too. So that also dampens some excitement of the Super Fight feel of this match. But you never know what could happen in WWE. Because while they might try their best to make plans and stick to it, an injury or any number of things can always come out of nowhere to force even more changes in WWE’s creative direction.
