Impact Wrestling underwent some big changes in 2017 when the new regime took over, and the company lost many of its top stars. The company lost even more top stars at the most recent set of tapings a few weeks ago, as former World Champions EC3 and Bobby Lashley both parted ways with the company.
EC3 wasted no time making his next move, as he quickly signed a contract with WWE, and he appeared on screen at NXT Takeover: Philadelphia then later cut a promo backstage after the show.
EC3 has been a vital part of Impact’s weekly show for the last few years, but he recently told Newsweek that his decision to leave had nothing to do with money, and it was all about him wanting to challenge himself.
“My decision to leave Impact had nothing to with their business or finances and everything with me wanting to challenge myself to something new. Leaving Impact was a very difficult decision as I had six months left on a very lucrative and talent-friendly contract. Anthem lived up to that contract and always treated me with the utmost respect as a businessman and a person.”
Several former Impact Wrestling stars such as Samoa Joe and Bobby Roode have found major success in NXT, so there’s little doubt that EC3 will likely become one of the brand’s top stars in short time.
As for Bobby Lashley, he has yet to return, but it’s rumored he’s WWE bound and that the company has big plans for him. You can get more on that here.
