For months now Drew McIntyre and Cody Rhodes have been involved in a heated feud that has only escalated in recent weeks. It was announced ahead of SmackDown that Cody would be defending his Undisputed WWE Championship against Drew in a Three Stages of Hell match and the two stars finally clashed Friday night in Berlin, Germany.
The first match was a straight wrestling match and it ended when Drew McIntyre hit Cody Rhodes with a low blow while the referee wasn’t looking, then he followed up with a Claymore to score the first pinfall.
The action continued immediately after as Drew and Cody battled in a Falls Count Anywhere and Drew tried to keep his momentum going as he put Cody through a table with a powerbomb. They battled into the crowd and into the backstage area before Cody and Drew ended up at the announce table. The American Nightmare ended up evening the score when he put Drew through the announce table with a Crossrhodes then pinned him.
The final stage was a steel cage match and Drew started crawling through the door near the end of the match. However, a hooded man appeared and stopped Drew from leaving then revealed himself to be Jacob Fatu.
Jacob Fatu entered the cage and started brawling with Drew, but Cody tried to stop him which led to Jacob brawling with Cody. As Cody and Jacob were distracted fighting each other Drew escaped through the cage door to win the Undisputed WWE Championship.
