At WrestleMania 39 back in April, Drew McIntyre, Sheamus and Gunther faced off in a triple threat match with the Intercontinental Championship on the line and it was Gunther who walked out with the gold. McIntyre then took a few months off before returning at Money in the Bank, but there was a lot of talk about his status during his absence.
In recent months it’s been reported that Drew’s contract is set to expire in early 2024, and he has yet to sign a new deal. Drew hasn’t said much about his contract status, but he recently told Hindustan Times that he doesn’t plan to be anywhere else.
“I mean, I keep reading the internet myself. I just saw something earlier. The internet keeps talking about my future, I guess. But my focus is on the here and now like I don’t look to the future, I don’t look to the past, I look to the present. And my job right now is just making sure we give everybody in Hyderabad the best show possible and I’ll continue to give the best performance I can give at every show and I can see I don’t plan to be anywhere else. That’s as much as I can give.”
Currently Drew McIntyre is working in the tag team division on Raw alongside Matt Riddle, so it will be interesting to see what the next few months hold for the former WWE Champion.
