CM Punk left the wrestling industry in 2014, and he hasn’t looked back. Punk has been pursuing his love of MMA, and even though his first fight in UFC didn’t go so well for him, he’s still chasing his dream.
Punk doesn’t seem to have any interest in returning to the ring right now, but if he does change his mind, he has plenty of options, and a Ring of Honor return is on the table if Punk wants to work for the company again. ROH COO Joe Koff recently spoke to Wrestlezone Radio, and he said the door is always open for CM Punk.
“CM Punk would be an unbelievable addition for Ring of Honor. I don’t know where that would be or could be. It would be a dream. Wrestling talent knows this: once you are a part of Ring of Honor you are always a part of Ring of Honor. Our door is always open to people who want to come back and perform at our level, with our style and for our fans. That would be a dream. That would be unbelievable. CM Punk, if you’re listening or reading, I hope you are, you are always welcome in our house. You know that. He knows that. We’ve had conversations in the past through people. He knows that there is a welcome sign for him.”
When asked if he has spoken with Punk, Joe Koff said that he hasn’t, but he indicated that there has been contact between Punk and ROH.
“I haven’t spoken to him personally and I think it’s through intermediaries or whatever. I think his first goal was to be involved in his MMA stuff.”
Joe was also asked if knows whether or not CM Punk has an inkling to return to wrestling, but he noted the question is one that would be best answered by Punk himself.
“I think that’s a question for him. I wish I had that big story.”
CM Punk and WWE definitely don’t seem to be on good terms right now, but a CM Punk return could be huge for ROH if Punk ever decides to walk through the open door.
There’s no shortage of talent for Punk to work with, but as of right now he’s given no indication that he’ll be wrestling again.
