The WWE Universe was surprised to see Dolph Ziggler pick up a clean win over AJ Styles in the main event of this week’s edition of SmackDown Live. The general feeling was that it was a good thing for Ziggler. However, it seems the finish may have actually been a big mistake.

It has been reported by the Wrestling Observer that Styles and Ziggler may have messed up the finish of the match because it wasn’t meant to end in a clean win for Dolph. It was meant to end with Dolph getting the three count, but AJ’s foot would have been on the bottom rope.
The final pin happened very close to the ropes, which is an indication that the planned finish would have had AJ’s foot on the bottom rope, but Ziggler may have rolled him up too hard for the final pin. It’s being said that no one backstage is overly upset about their botched finish.
However, the expectation is that WWE officials will want to even the score over the next few weeks. A rematch between Styles and Ziggler will happen before Money in the Bank. In the short term, it was a good victory for Dolph to build some momentum heading into the PPV.
