It was clear heading into Monday Night Raw this week that it was going to be a loaded show as two matches were confirmed for The Last Time Is Now Tournament. It was announced ahead of time that Gunther would be facing Je’Von Evans and Solo Sikoa would be going one on one with a mystery opponent.
The wrestling world has been buzzing all week about the mystery opponent’s true identity, and Adam Pearce told fans on Sunday that none of their theories were correct. When it was time for the mystery opponent to make their entrance it was revealed to be former WWE World Heavyweight Champion Dolph Ziggler.
Ziggler returned to a big reaction from the fans who chanted “welcome back” after he made his way down to the ring. The former WWE World Heavyweight Champion dominated the match early on and fans responded with chants of “let’s go Ziggler,” as Talla Tonga looked on from ringside.
Solo eventually got the upper hand, but after a few minutes Ziggler managed to connect with the Zig Zag. Unfortunately for Ziggler, Solo kicked out at two. Ziggler set Solo up for a superkick. Solo blocked it at first then Ziggler immediately responded with another superkick which connected. Solo Sikoa then turned right around and connected with the Samoan Spike to win the match.
