A few months ago Dolph Ziggler took a hiatus from WWE, but he returned for a big WWE Championship match with Kofi Kingston in Saudi Arabia at Super ShowDown.
Dolph didn’t manage to win the gold, but he’s now back on the road with WWE and he’s once again being featured regularly on TV.
The former WWE World Heavyweight Champion opened up about his time away from WWE during an interview with News-Press, and he noted that he was a little nervous when he returned to the ring.
“It was the first time I’ve had a vacation in almost 14 years. I needed a little time off and I asked for it. It was like 2½ months or something. And by the way, during that 2½ months, I still worked out once or twice a day and got a ton of stand-up comedy in. I was doing a ton of traveling.
I was a little bit nervous getting back in the ring. But someone who’s an old pro like me, who’s done it for so long, the muscle memory was still there. Everything worked out. Maybe about two minutes in, I was right back to being me and getting everything accomplished in there and jumping high and running the ropes and going, ‘OK, here we go!'”
Raw and SmackDown Live put a few matches together for SummerSlam this week, but as of this writing Dolph Ziggler does not have an opponent. Who do you want to see him face at the biggest party of the summer? Sound off in the comments below.
