Kevin Owens went full tilt on Vince McMahon this week on SmackDown Live. He headbutted The Chairman Of The Board leaving him a bloody mess in the middle of the ring. Then he continued his assault capping it all off with a Bullfrog Splash.
Vince started to bleed as soon as he was hit but some wondered if Vince actually bladed during the angle. We didn’t see him blade as his arms were obviously to his sides, and it was direct contact from Kevin Owens that laid the boss out.
Dave Meltzer noted in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that although the mechanics of the method aren’t exactly known, it is possible Vince McMahon bladed prior to the headbutt and he covered it with nu-kkin to cover up the bleeding. But Owens’ headbutt was enough to bust the nu-skin open and the fresh cut kept bleeding.
This led to a lot of blood and pulled off a great angle. But it wasn’t a very smart move on McMahon’s part, even though there’s no convincing him not to do something he’s set on doing. He is still a 72-year-old man and even though he’s in great shape, he’s already taken his fair share of chair shots to the head. Let’s be honest, if Kevin really headbutted Vince hard enough to legit bust him wide open it might have caused way more real damage than just a cut forehead.
The double-standard is obviously something of conversation when considering how this all went down. After all, Batista was fined $100,000 for blading in 2008 in a match with Chris Jericho.
But no matter how they pulled it off, it was still a pretty memorable moment and will be a nice addition to Kevin Owens’ eventual WWE Hall Of Fame highlight reel.
