More Details On Shawn Michaels’ Role At The WWE Performance Center, Samoa Joe Talks Joining NXT

During a recent appearance on X-Pac’s 1,2,360 show, WWE Hall of Famer Kevin Nash claimed that Shawn Michaels is the new Head of the WWE Performance Center. A few days later Triple H clarified that Matt Bloom is still the head coach at the Performance Center, and Shawn’s role has yet to be defined.

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that there are no plans to remove Matt Bloom from his position as of right now, and the structure of coaches at the WWE Performance Center is still being figured out. It was noted that Shawn Michaels will likely work in a position where he acts as a bridge from NXT to the main roster.

The idea would be for him to work with about half a dozen talents who are ready to be called up over a period of six months. Michaels would work exclusively with those talents to get them ready for either Raw or SmackDown, and he’d also recommend which talents need more time, and which ones are ready to move up.

Samoa Joe recently spoke to AM New York to promote NXT TakeOver: Toronto, and during the interview Joe talked a little bit about why he felt signing with NXT was the right move for him. You can see what he had to say below.

“I knew NXT was really, really gaining a lot of steam, it was kind of exploding and making kind of this tremendous impact on the industry in general. To be there and help further that movement and further that expansion was very, very interesting to me. I’ve had the pleasure of being on the forefront of new brands expanding the industry and building things from scratch and from the ground up, and NXT is very much the same environment. It’s a really awesome environment to work in. You get this crazy opportunity to be on the ground floor of something and really establish it, and make it a bigger presence in the industry. It’s just fun, man. There’s a revolutionary energy behind it and it’s really invigorating for me as well as NXT.”
