More Details On Samoa Joe’s Injury, How It Happened And More

Earlier today Kurt Angle made a huge announcement when he revealed that Samoa Joe won’t be competing in the Mixed Match challenge. Fans who were hoping to see Samoa Joe compete in the tournament were disappointed to find out that Joe has been pulled from Mixed Match Challenge due to injury.

WWE.com has confirmed Joe’s status, and it seems that the injury happened during Samoa Joe’s match on Raw this week.

“During his match, [Samoa Joe] felt a pop at the bottom of his [right] foot,” explained WWE Senior Ringside Physician Dr. Chris Amann. “We took a look and believe he has a plantar fascia rupture, which is a thick tissue rupture under the foot. We will get an MRI to confirm. Treatment includes a period of immobilization in a boot with crutches and platelet rich plasma injections.”

Luckily judging from the comments above, it doesn’t sound like surgery will be necessary, so hopefully Samoa Joe won’t have to sit on the sidelines for too long. After all, the Royal Rumble is only a few weeks away, and Joe did confirm on Raw this week that he plans on entering the match.

We’ll have to wait and see if Joe will be healthy enough to compete in the Royal Rumble, but in the meantime Elias will be replacing him in the Mixed Match Challenge.
