CM Punk made his big return to professional wrestling in August of 2021 when he joined AEW, and he went on to become a two time AEW World Champion. However, CM Punk’s run with AEW has already come to an end as it was officially announced last week that Punk had been terminated following a backstage altercation at All In.
PWInsiderElite.com is reporting that CM Punk was a hot topic in WWE within minutes of Tony Khan announcing that Punk had been terminated with cause. It’s being said that there were some who were adamantly agains the idea of CM Punk returning to the company who didn’t believe it could happen.
There were reportedly others who looked at a potential CM Punk return as a chance to make big money. One top tier star was said to have been all for the idea, but it’s not a decision that would be their call.
CM Punk first parted ways with WWE in 2014 and went on to make a number of negative comments about the company following his departure. The Second City Saint made a surprise appearance backstage at Raw in April where he reportedly spoke with The Miz and Triple H as well as other familiar names.
