Nowadays it’s not uncommon for main roster stars to make appearances on NXT programming, and last week fans saw Mustafa Ali and Baron Corbin make their presence felt on the NXT brand.
Fightful Select reports that there were tentative plans for Baron Corbin and Mustafa Ali to work in NXT put in place a while ago and it was one of the reasons why they became free agents following the WWE Draft. The same source also noted that there was more of a plan for the free agents this time around compared to how free agents were used under the previous regime.
It’s also being reported that there were several NXT talent that asked to work with Mustafa Ali and he was said to have been happy to oblige. The goal for sending them to NXT is to refresh Corbin and Ali, add interest to the brand, assess talent they’ll be working with, and give NXT talent a chance to work with wrestlers who have been featured on TV on the main roster.
Mustafa Ali and Baron Corbin will continue to work in NXT, but the move isn’t permanent, and they will still be able to appear on Monday Night Raw and Friday Night SmackDown as needed.
